Hi and welcome to the Creative Learning Maastricht website. My name is Maria Vatista and I’m a cultural educator by trade.

Ever since I was a child, my dream was to become an archaeologist and to live in a museum! I managed to fulfill my dreams by studying Archaeology and History of Art at the University of Athens and at the Freie Universität Berlin. My interest in museum education lead me to Hellenic Children Museum, where I trained as a museum educator. During my MA studies in Maastricht University, I specialized in Cultural Education and Management. During and after this period, I have worked for several cultural institutions in Greece and the Netherlands as project manager and museum educator.

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up” - Pablo Picasso

The idea for Creative Learning Maastricht was born from my passion to find alternative, educational ways for both children and parents to interact with all forms of art. My goal is to translate this into activities.

Based on the theory ‘‘learning by doing’’, I aim to encourage all children to find art everywhere around them, feel (more) comfortable with themselves and boost their imagination. At the same time, I want to give parents the chance to actively interact and share these moments of creativity together with their children.
